A large dog eating from the floor stoops through the shoulders and neck for every meal. The taller the dog, the more pronounced that is. Getting the bowl to roughly lower-chest height lets them eat with a level neck instead.
Our Large station stands 12″ tall on a 28″ slab, which suits the great majority of large breeds. Giant breeds — Danes, Mastiffs, Saint Bernards, Irish Wolfhounds — typically need 15″ to 16″, which we build as a custom XL.

The link between raised feeding and gastric dilatation-volvulus in large, deep-chested breeds is genuinely contested in the veterinary literature, and some research has associated elevated bowls with increased risk. That is precisely the population most likely to be shopping this page. If your dog is deep-chested, very young, senior, or has any medical history, ask your veterinarian before you change how they eat. A comfortable feeding height is not worth guessing about.

Every standard station includes two stainless steel bowls, a sealed stone finish, protective bottom pads and bowl-rim pads. Custom XS and XL heights are built to order.
Giant breeds usually need more height than our 12″ Large stand provides, which is why we build custom XL stations in the 15″ to 16″ range. The rule of thumb is that the bottom of the bowl should sit around the height of your dog's lower chest so they neither stoop nor reach. Measure your dog rather than relying on the breed average.
Large and tall breeds such as German Shepherds, Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Dobermans and Rottweilers generally match the Large station at 12″ tall. Individual dogs vary considerably within a breed, so measure before ordering.
This one deserves a straight answer rather than a sales pitch. An elevated setup can be more comfortable for larger and older dogs. However, the relationship between raised feeding and bloat (gastric dilatation-volvulus) in large and deep-chested breeds is genuinely debated, and some studies have associated raised bowls with increased risk. If your dog is a deep-chested breed, is very young, or has any medical condition, ask your veterinarian before switching. We would rather you check first.
